“Painting is a way for me to pause and notice what often goes unseen. Every work is an encounter with a memory. Sometimes I only recognize myself once the painting is finished. For me, making art is seeing with my heart.”
Tibo van de Zand Tibo van de Zand (1985) is a contemporary Dutch artist known for his distinctly expressive style. His paintings are powerful, colorful, and intuitive, reflecting a fauvist approach in which landscape, light, and emotion merge. With studios in both De Bilt and Málaga, he works both literally and figuratively between two worlds: the Dutch light and the southern sun.
Tibo grew up in an environment deeply infused with art. He is the son of sculptor and versatile artist Jits Bakker, whose influence is still visible in Tibo’s free brushwork and his ongoing search for meaning in form and color. At the same time, Tibo has developed a completely personal signature, in which the canvas serves as a direct translation of movement and emotion.
